Photo 053

March 1, 2011

Another shot from our walk through the art park at the museum. You can see the full view of this piece here. The quote on this photo reminds me of all the times I’ve heard people complain about modern art and how they don’t understand what makes something art. I guess for me it’s just a simple thing: expression. Art is just expressing yourself. For some this means a photo-realistic painting and for others it’s a canvas splattered with black paint. The skill that was used (or not used) isn’t really relevant. What matters is that the creator wanted to express himself or herself and they decided that the best way to do it was by splattering paint or writing a song or standing on a street corner reciting a monologue. Either way, we’re getting a glimpse into their soul and their biography.
