Churches that are built today often look like warehouses that were put up over a weekend, or shopping malls with a cross on the side of their ginormous walls. I can’t figure out the logic behind the former; whether it’s a cost thing, or they’re convinced their current building is only temporary because they’ll soon need a larger warehouse. Either way, it’s always pleasant to pass by an old country chapel with a steeple and stained glass windows. They probably still use pews and hymnals, rather than cushy chairs and a projector. There’s nothing wrong with either, but there’s also nothing wrong with nostalgia and a healthy respect for the past.
